Walking Tour at The Forks
General Public | Groups & Schools
Join us for a 45-minute or 1-hour guided walking experience. Exploring treaty history, place-based teachings, and stories of the land.
Land Acknowledgment
Turtle Tours is based in Winnipeg, Manitoba, on Treaty 1 Territory, the traditional lands of the Anishinaabe, Cree, Oji-Cree, Dakota, and Dene Peoples, and the homeland of the Métis Nation.
We also work in partnership with communities across Treaty 2 and Treaty 4, sharing experiences that honour the land, water, and teachings of the original peoples of these territories.
We walk with gratitude for those who came before us, and with responsibility to those yet to come.
Meet Ashley
Founder and Lead Guide
An Indigenous entrepreneur, educator, and storyteller, Ashley founded Turtle Tours to share the stories that shaped the land and the people on it.
The knowledge she brings reflects generations of Indigenous experience and relationship with the land.
This isn’t just a tour — it’s a return to one of the most powerful gathering places on Turtle Island.
Join us as we walk the land, follow the rivers, and trace the trails of over 6,000 years of movement, meeting, and memory.
From ancient prophecies to the fur trade, peace treaties to residential schools, this tour shares truths that still ripple through these waters today. You’ll hear about the Selkirk Treaty, the legacy of Net-no-kwa and John “The Falcon” Tanner, and the ways Indigenous people have always been — and still are — part of this place.
Led by Indigenous guides, Turtle Tours is rooted in truth-telling, cultural connection, and walking gently where our ancestors once stood.
