Tours run rain or shine. Please dress for the weather and bring an umbrella or raincoat if needed. Comfortable footwear is also recommended.

Yes! The tour is great for children aged 6 and up. It’s engaging, story-driven, and encourages curiosity. We also offer a discounted child rate.

Absolutely. Kids 5 and under can join for free with a paying adult. Just note that we don’t provide headsets for this age group, so they’ll need to stay close during the tour.

The tours are 45 minutes or 60 minutes (with a visit to the Treaty Relations Centre) and involves light walking along accessible, paved paths at The Forks. The pace is relaxed and family-friendly.

Yes. The route is flat and fully accessible. If you have specific mobility needs, let us know and we’ll do our best to accommodate.

All tours begin at The Forks Market Plaza, near the main entrance. A confirmation email with detailed meeting instructions and a map link will be sent after booking.

Yes — The Forks has multiple nearby parking lots. Hourly and daily rates apply. We recommend arriving at least 10 minutes early.

All group tours can be booked online. All other tours are available on a walk-in basis, subject to availability

Yes! We work with families, schools, organizations, and tour operators to create custom Indigenous-led experiences. Reach out and we’ll help design something meaningful for your group.

Cancellation Policy:
We understand that plans can change. Please review our cancellation policy carefully before booking.
• Cancellation & No-Show Policy
• If you cancel 7 days or more before your scheduled booking date, you will receive a refund minus a $25 administrative fee.
• If you cancel within 6 days of your scheduled booking date, including same-day or next-day bookings, your booking is non-refundable.
• No-shows or cancellations made after the experience start time are considered non-refundable.
Weather Clause:
Turtle Tours operates rain or shine please dress appropriately for the weather. In cases of extreme weather, (e.g., high winds, lightning, or unsafe conditions), we reserve the right tore schedule or cancel for safety. Guests will be contacted promptly in the event of a weather-related cancellation.

Individuals
All reservations for individuals can be processed at our storefront location or through our secure online booking platform - Checkfront. Reservations can be made by individuals or through a travel agent. Full payment for the tour is due at the time of booking.
Groups
For group reservations, our team is happy to assist you directly to ensure we are meeting the needs of your visit with us. Group bookings represent groups over 15 or private groups with less than 15 participants.
If your reservation is made at least 14 days in advance, we require a 50% deposit at the time of booking to confirm your reservation with the final amount due 14 days prior to the start of your tour booking. If your reservation is made less than 14 days prior to your tour date a full payment will be due at the time of the booking.

TURTLE TOURS
Liability Waiver, Release, and Assumption of Risk Agreement
Please read this document carefully. You will be required to sign this waiver before participating in any guided walking tour with Turtle Tours.
I understand and confirm that my participation in a Turtle Tours walking tour is entirely voluntary. I affirm that I am in good physical and mental health and have no condition that would make me particularly susceptible to injury or illness during the tour.
I acknowledge that Turtle Tours walking tours take place in public and outdoor environments that may involve unpredictable and uncontrolled conditions. I understand that potential hazards include, but are not limited to:
· Uneven or unstable walking surfaces, steps, curbs, and narrow passageways
· Wet, slippery, or poorly lit areas
· Traffic, bicycles, and road crossings or detours due to construction or public events
· Exposure to varying weather conditions
I voluntarily assume full responsibility for all risks associated with participating in a Turtle Tours walking tour. I understand that Turtle Tours staff and guides will make reasonable efforts to provide a safe experience, but I accept full personal responsibility for any injuries, damages, losses, or liabilities that may occur.
I hereby release, waive, and discharge Turtle Tours and all of its affiliated entities, owners, officers, employees, contractors, representatives, successors, and assigns (collectively, the “Released Parties”) from any and all claims, demands, causes of action, damages, losses, or liabilities—whether known or unknown—arising out of or related to my participation in any Turtle Tours activity. This includes claims arising from the negligence of the Released Parties.
I agree to indemnify and hold harmless the Released Parties from and against all claims, actions, suits, proceedings, costs, expenses, damages, and liabilities (including attorney’s fees) brought by any third party arising out of my conduct during a Turtle Tours activity.
If any provision of this agreement is held to be invalid or unenforceable, the remaining provisions shall continue in full force and effect.
I grant Turtle Tours the royalty-free right to use photographs, videos, or digital images of me taken during the tour for promotional, marketing, educational, or informational purposes.
I authorize Turtle Tours to provide or arrange for medical treatment, emergency transportation, or assistance in the event of illness or injury. I understand that this does not create a duty or obligation on the part of Turtle Tours to provide such services and that I retain the right to refuse treatment unless incapacitated.
By booking this tour, I acknowledge that I have read, understood, and agree to the terms of this waiver and release.

Fishing Regulations & Guest Guidelines
FortWhyte Alive – Lake Devonian
To help protect the lakes, fish populations, and natural environment at FortWhyte Alive, all guests participating in ice fishing are required to follow the regulations below.
General Fishing Rules
Fishing at FortWhyte Alive is catch-and-release only.
Barbless hooks are required at all times.
Fishing must end 30 minutes before FortWhyte Alive closes for the day.
Children under 15 must be accompanied by an adult.
Fishing is permitted only in designated lakes and areas. Fishing is not allowed in wetlands, marshes, boardwalk areas, or from docks.
Please dispose of fishing line, bait containers, and refuse properly. Discarded gear poses a serious risk to wildlife.
Failure to follow regulations may result in the loss of fishing privileges at FortWhyte Alive.
Licenses & Provincial Regulations
No Fishing license is required.
Manitoba angling regulations apply in addition to FortWhyte Alive site rules. Guests are responsible for ensuring they are fishing legally.
Aquatic Invasive Species (AIS) Prevention
Aquatic Invasive Species are a serious environmental concern. All fishing gear must be properly maintained to prevent their spread.
All equipment must be:
Clean – free of plants, mud, and visible debris
Drained – remove all water from gear and containers away from the lake
Dry – equipment must be completely dry before use
Please avoid transferring equipment between different water bodies without proper cleaning.
Ice Fishing Guidelines
Ice fishing takes place on Lake Devonian only.
Guests must follow all posted notices regarding ice safety and lake access.
Ice conditions are monitored by FortWhyte Alive. Ice fishing may be suspended if conditions are unsafe.
All fish, bait containers, refuse, and equipment must be removed from the ice at the end of your fishing time.
Respect for the Land
FortWhyte Alive is a protected nature area. We ask all guests to:
Respect wildlife and other visitors
Follow staff direction and posted signage
Leave the area as you found it

We have x3 options for rentals (9am-12pm), (1pm-4pm) and (Full day rental 9am-6pm) $275 for half days, $425 full day.

Ice Fishing equipment is available by rental through Turtle Tours only and must be reserved on our website. Guests may also bring their own fishing gear. Ice Fishing equipment will not be supplied by FortWhyte Alive.

Cooking & Food Options
No cooking is permitted inside the hot tents.
On-Site Food Options
Guests can also purchase food and beverages from the Buffalo Stone Café at FortWhyte Alive before or during their visit.

Ice fishing from a hot tent can be a great option for those who want to enjoy the winter season comfortably. Our hot tent provides a heated shelter, making it much more comfortable than being exposed to the elements.

Our Ice Fishing Tent is accessed independently. Guests who rent ice fishing equipment through Turtle Tours will find their gear set up and ready inside their hot tent upon arrival. Prior to your booking, you will receive an email with detailed directions and access instructions to your assigned hot tent.

Firewood is provided by Turtle Tours and will be supplied.
Keep your fire small and under control. Never leave a fire unattended. Only use firewood provided in the Hot Tent.

Ice is monitored through the Ice Fishing Village we recommend staying on paths provided.
